Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman will be named the 2009 Humanitarian Award honoree at the Billboard Touring Awards in New York on Nov. 5.

The Humanitarian Award recognizes the philanthropic efforts of a touring professional. Lyman's acknowledgment as the 2009 honoree reflects his involvement in a wide range of humanitarian and environmentally conscious efforts.

"The scale of Kevin's involvement in charitable and environmental causes runs broad and deep," says Ray Waddell, Billboard's executive director of content and programming, touring and live entertainment. "Billboard is thrilled to recognize Kevin's ongoing dedication to ensuring that his various music platforms maintain a strong humanitarian purpose."

This summer, Warped Tour began working with MusiCares, and on Sept. 6 at Warped's 15th anniversary show in L.A., Lyman presented MusiCares with a check for $50,000. The event was filmed and debuted in 465 theaters nationwide on Sept. 17. The theatrical release will also show in Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and Canada, with proceeds also going to MusiCares. A DVD and compilation CD will be released in March 2010, nationally and globally, with proceeds from all theatrical and CD/DVD sales to go to MusiCares.

Since the inception of the Warped Tour, 25 cents of every ticket goes to Hollywood Heart, a Los Angeles based non-profit organization that provides recreational and educational opportunities to at-risk youth.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Lyman started the Unite the United Foundation, a charitable organization with a mission to encourage fans, artists and industry leaders from the music, touring and lifestyle worlds to come together through charitable contributions, events and volunteer efforts in communities nationwide. Between both the Warped and Rockstar Taste Of Chaos tours, nearly $500,000 has been donated to charity via Unite the United.

Lyman has worked to create blood drives with Music Saves Lives on the Warped and Taste of Chaos for the past three years. Warped has been named Best Independent Blood Drive for 2008 and 2009 for raising more than 70,000 pints of blood each summer.

On the environmental front, the tour-funded Warped Eco Initiative includes recycling, a solar stage, the use of biodiesel fuel in all production trucks and buses, and much more. The Warped tour works with Earth Echo to continue to integrate more environmental activities into WEI.

Warped has long invited local, regional and national non-profit organizations to set up tables and tents on concourses at shows for no cost. For the first time in 2009, the Warped tour worked with Living the Dream, an NFP that help make dreams come true for children with life threatening diseases. In 19 cities this summer, kids came as Warped guests where they had the chance to meet artists and receive VIP treatment.

Lyman, president of 4fini Productions, follows previous Humanitarian Award winners Jon Bon Jovi (2008), Kevin Wall (2007), Music Rising (2006), Dave Matthews (2005) and Clear Channel Entertainment (2004).

The Billboard Touring Awards will wrap the 6th annual Billboard Touring Conference at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, Nov. 4-5.
